Deuteronomy 22:6 tells us that God commands us to care for animals so that things will go well in our lives and our days will be prolonged.

Your donation makes you a vital part of our mission, fuels our passion, and helps shape the future of our efforts.

Donations are the lifeblood of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit livestock rescue organization. The rescue is dedicated to saving, rehabilitating, and providing lifelong care for animals—such as horses, goats, pigs, cows, and other farm animals—that have been neglected, abused, abandoned, or are at risk of slaughter. Unlike businesses, nonprofit rescues do not generate profit from their services, and they rely almost entirely on the generosity of individuals, foundations, and corporate sponsors to sustain their operations.Financial contributions directly support the rescue's core mission. These funds are used for critical expenses such as feed, veterinary care, shelter maintenance, transportation, and medical emergencies. Livestock, in particular, require substantial resources: their daily care is costly, and their medical needs often demand specialized attention. Without consistent donor support, many rescues would be unable to provide the level of care needed to rehabilitate animals and give them a second chance at life.In addition to covering basic needs, donations enable rescues to expand their impact—through community outreach, education programs, and advocacy. These efforts help raise awareness about responsible animal stewardship, reduce cases of neglect and abuse, and promote adoption over purchasing.Importantly, donations to a 501(c)(3) nonprofit are typically tax-deductible, giving supporters an added incentive to contribute while knowing their gift makes a tangible difference. Whether it's a one-time gift, a monthly pledge, or an in-kind donation of supplies or services, every contribution helps build a safer, more compassionate world for vulnerable livestock.

About Us

The DHFR Team

We're a mother-daughter team with hearts for disabled, abused, unwanted, and other animals who are in need. Through our ministry, we are able to rescue, rehabilitate, and often times, rehome these animals to families willing to offer love and continued support for a healthier, happier, and more productive life.

Hunter is pursuing a degree in large animal science and plans to continue in hands-on work with livestock. She is the sole owner of Double H Farrier Services, Topline Equine Flexion Therapy, and co-owner here at the rescue. She also is employed by a local HIPAA therapy barn centered around children with special needs.

Terrie works in the sales engineering department for a global manufacturing company that produces poultry, fish, and meat processing equipment. She also works full-time for Double H Farrier Services and co-owns the rescue.

If you know of an animal in need, please feel free to reach out. If we are unable to assist, we have a wonderful network of farms, rescues, and sanctuaries who are always willing to step in.
